When Life Gives You Lemons

The most commonly heard saying is "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Novelist Victor Hugo offered similar advice stating "Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.”

In today's financially trying times, and to ensure viability and sustainability, it is essential for your brand to stand apart from, and ahead of your competitors. It must be perceived as a category leader.

In this regard, it's important to note that great brands are intrinsically optimistic. They are also outgoing, approachable, innovative, engaging and highly sought after - all qualities envied by marketers around the world. Just think about some of the world's most highly regarded brands such as Apple, Coca-Cola, and Disney. These are pretty upbeat and worthwhile organizations for sure.

So... rather than sitting around watching your competitors innovate and thrive, the time to act is now - especially while things are slow and distractions are few.

From a marketing perspective, whether it's new product introductions, updated brand imagery and packaging, more efficient use of the internet including a refreshed website and online experiences, there's plenty that can be done to maintain hard won client relationships, attract new prospects, and maintain your leadership status.

Assuming you cannot manage everything by yourself, you'll want to find a branding specialist who understands your industry, has a longstanding track record, demonstrates undeniable creativity, and has the capacity to help you see the light. You'll also want to be sure they are every bit as enthusiastic and optimistic as you are about your products and likelihood of success.

The bottom line is that the time to act is now. As the saying goes, even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.
